Hi, I'm Cormac

I started Sky Chimney Sweep in September 2025, after years of sweeping my own chimney and the chimneys of relations and elderly neighbours around Ballinhassig. I trained with Rod Technology, carry public-liability insurance, became a Certified Sweeps member, and invested in proper power sweeping and dust extraction gear.

When you ring, you're talking straight to the person who'll be standing at your fireplace.

How it works

Usually about an hour of your day, and then it's off your mind.

Pick a time

Call or WhatsApp Cormac, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Weekends can be arranged too.

I sweep

Sheets down, fireplace sealed, flue power swept and vacuumed. I clean up before I go.

You get a sweeping certificate on the spot; a dated record of the work, handy for your home insurance and your peace of mind.

Enjoy the fire

Everything goes back where it was and the soot leaves with me. Nothing to clean up, nothing to put back.

Why bother? Three reasons.

How often depends on the fuel: Irish government fire-safety guidance recommends four times a year for wood-burning fires while in use, twice for coal and once for smokeless fuel.

Lower fire risk

Sweeping clears away the soot and tar that can catch light inside the flue.

Carbon monoxide

A blocked flue can push fumes back into the room instead of up and out.

Wasted fuel

A clogged flue makes a fire sluggish and smoky, so it burns through more fuel to give the same heat.

A sweep is not a substitute for a working carbon monoxide alarm. Keep one nearby, test it regularly, and follow your local fire service's guidance.

And one more reason

Proof of when it was done

If your insurer asks when the chimney was last swept, you'll have the answer ready without digging through messages or trying to remember the date. Policies differ on what they ask for, so it's worth a look at your own wording.

I fill out the certificate and hand it to you before I leave; it's a record of the sweep, not a survey of the chimney itself. Keep it with your household paperwork and you're sorted.

See inside your own chimney

A chimney can look fine from the hearth and still be hiding trouble halfway up. The CCTV inspection sends a camera up the flue, so you can see for yourself what state it's in.

You see the footage yourself, and I explain what the camera shows. It is a visual check of the flue, not a structural survey; if anything needs a closer look, I'll point you to the right next step.

Book before the September rush

Most chimneys get swept between September and March, so that's when the slots go quickest. Any time of year is fine; the early birds just get the pick of the dates.
