Chimney sweeping, priced up front
No "from" prices. The price you're quoted when you book is the price you pay.
Prices
Standard Sweep
- One open fire or stove
- Sealed, power swept, soot taken away
- Certificate in your hand
Sweep + CCTV Inspection
- Everything in the standard sweep
- Camera survey of the flue
- You see the footage yourself
Prices are for one chimney. If you have a second flue, need a weekend slot or live just outside the coverage area, ask when you book and I'll confirm the full price before the visit. Sweeping and inspections only, no repairs.
What every sweep includes
The same routine at every house, whether it's a terraced city fireplace or a farmhouse stove:
- Dust sheets down before anything else
- Fireplace or stove sealed before the rods go up
- Power sweep with rotary rods, top to bottom
- H-class industrial vacuum running the whole time
- Soot bagged and taken away
- Sweeping certificate filled out on the spot
When is the CCTV inspection worth it?
The camera survey is worth having when there's any doubt about the flue. Consider it if:
- You've just bought the house and don't know its history
- The fire hasn't been lit in a few years
- Smoke has been coming back into the room
- Birds have been at the chimney pot
You see the footage yourself, and I explain what the camera shows. It is a visual check of the flue, not a structural survey; if anything needs a closer look, I'll point you to the right next step.
Good to know
The practical bits people usually ask about.
How often should I sweep?
For fires in use, Irish government fire-safety guidance recommends sweeping four times a year for wood, twice for coal and once for smokeless fuel. Follow your stove supplier's guidance too, and keep each certificate as your dated record.
How do I prepare?
Let the fire go out the night before so everything is cold, and clear any ornaments off the hearth. I handle the rest.
When can I book?
Most chimneys get swept between September and March, so that is when slots go quickest, but I sweep all year round. Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Weekends can be arranged and carry an extra call-out charge, agreed with you when you book.
