Privacy Policy

The short version: this website doesn't use cookies or analytics. We use the details you give us to answer your enquiry, arrange and record the work, meet our legal obligations and, only if you opt in, send a reminder.

Who we are

Cormac Sedas, trading as Sky Chimney Sweep Cork in Ballinhassig, Co. Cork, is the data controller. For anything to do with your personal information, contact info [at] skychimneysweepcork.ie or call 089 439 0697.

This website

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and uses no tracking of any kind. Fonts are standard system fonts, so nothing is fetched from third-party font services. Our hosting provider processes visitor IP addresses as part of serving the site securely; that's inherent to how websites work and is not used by us to identify anyone.

The enquiry form

The enquiry form doesn't send anything to this website. It opens WhatsApp on your device with a message you can review before sending. If you send it, WhatsApp processes the message under its own privacy policy.

Email

If you email us, your message and email address arrive in our business mailbox. Our email providers process that information to deliver and store the message. We keep it under the retention periods described below.

The map

The map on the contact page is drawn by software hosted on this site, but the map imagery comes from OpenStreetMap. When you open the contact page, your browser requests that imagery from OpenStreetMap's servers, which process technical information such as your IP address under the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

General information, not advice

This site is a plain-English guide to our services, not a substitute for advice about a particular chimney, fire or stove. Follow your appliance manufacturer's instructions and official guidance such as the Irish government's Fire safety in the living room.

Customer information

When you ask for a quote or book a sweep, we use the details needed to respond and do the job: usually your name, contact details, job address, appliance or fuel details, appointment information and a record of the work carried out. Before a booking, the legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract. Once a booking is agreed, it is performing that contract. We keep invoice and accounting information where needed to meet our legal obligations. If you do not provide the necessary contact and job details, we may be unable to arrange the visit.

The yearly reminder

Sweep frequency depends on the fuel, appliance and use. If you ask us to, we can send a reminder based on the interval agreed when you book. Reminders are optional and use consent as their legal basis. Saying no, or withdrawing consent later, does not affect the service. You can stop reminders at any time by replying to one or contacting Cormac; reminder details are kept until you opt out.

How long we keep information

Invoice and accounting records are kept for six years from the end of the relevant accounting period. Certificate and job records are kept for up to six years after the visit so we can reissue a record and deal with questions or disputes; this is based on our legitimate interests in keeping an accurate service history. An enquiry that never becomes a booking is kept only while it is still useful, and cleared out at the end of each sweep season. We may keep information longer if a legal claim or another legal obligation requires it.

Who else can see your details

We use Cloudflare to deliver the website and its DNS, and Blacknight and Titan for business email. Iman Innovations provides technical maintenance and may have administrative access when support requires it. WhatsApp processes a message if you choose that contact method, and OpenStreetMap receives technical request data when the map loads. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information or share it for someone else's marketing.

Some providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Their privacy notices explain the locations and safeguards that apply. You can contact us if you want more information about a provider used for your data.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct or delete your information; restrict or object to its use; or receive a portable copy. You can withdraw consent for reminders at any time. These rights are not absolute: for example, we cannot delete an accounting record that the law requires us to keep. Contact us to make a request. You can also complain to Ireland's Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Automated decisions

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
